You know sometimes there is a game that just scares the shit out of you and yet keeps you glued to the TV for more. You know that game that makes you look around at every sound that your house is making in the night? This game my friends is Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame is currently a 4 game series that had the first three coming out on the PlayStation 2 and a fourth coming out for the Wii U. This game mixes the asian horror and western horror genres and then throws in pokemon snap to boot. This game follows a girl that is investigating an old house as her brother disappeared while investigating the disappearance of a crew investigating strange things that had occurred in the house...such as disappearances. Well the girl goes out one night...really?! She must find out the truth behind this house's twisted past and do so before she too becomes a casualty.
This game is creepy as hell. You are going through a haunted house with a flashlight in the middle of the night and being pursued by ghosts that want to devour your souls. You are also by the by finding out the twisted past of the house and finding out what really happened to your brother and the paranormal investigators. This has some of the coolest scares that I have seen in a game series. If you play this in the middle of the night then you are fully able to enjoy the effect presenting itself to you.
The downside is that you have to fight them off with a camera. I am still a little less scared when I realize that you are fighting a ghost with a camera. What the heck?! The story is also a bit off as I would think after all the disappearances that at least someone would figure out not to come in by now.
Still weather you are a casual gamer or just want something for halloween this is a series worth checking out and they are all still downloadable on the playstation network.
