DVD Movie Review #54 Le Portrait de Petite Cossette

Hello again I am back again for another review. This time it is the series Le Portrait de Petite Cossette. This was a gift from a friend and I must admit I wanted this from a long time. This was a good deal at the time and typically goes on sale when rightstuf.com does their 12 days of anime sale. I like creepy stuff and this series certainly fits the bill.

This series is about a young man in a antique shop. He comes across a possessed item and falls in love with the captive spirit of a little girl that has turned into a vengeful spirit. He works hard through great pain to him in order to help release her from his curse.

The animation combines hand drawn and computer animation looking different. The story is creepy in a Lovecraft type way with lots of blood and very creepy effects. The dubbing is pretty cool and the sound quality is also very good adding to the creepiness factor. The series is very dark and if you like this factor it is the show for you.

The animation style while interesting is rough at times and I am not very happy about the computer aspects which I have not cared for in any series Tiger and Bunny is another example of this. The plot is creepy but at the same time it is a tad over strange and confusing so you ma be scratching your head as you are cringing from the large amounts of blood gushing from the main character's chest wound. Being a very short the series doesn't really end this confusion issue.

Rating:     6/10

In the end this is a very confusion if not creepy series. The copy I have is the standard DVD
